Want to read a good news story? Or, more to the point, read about quality care and service from a proud NDIS provider?

We thought to share with you what our clients experience through our SLES service here at Connex Life.

Before we dive in, here’s a bit of general information about us.

We, at Connex Life, are a nationally registered NDIS provider, with focused support avenues and services for people living with a disability. As a smaller provider, we specialise in providing quality & tailored services in SLES, together with our other core service.

Our purpose is about supporting you to achieve your goals & quality care is at the core of what we offer and do!

Connex Life NDIS Provider

Ok, so now you know a bit more about us.

Let’s take a closer look into our SLES or School Transition to Work / Education program.

At Connex Life, we are all about offering that extra support in preparing for your working life with our School Leaver Employment Supports service. Through this service, we assist school leavers in gaining the necessary skills and experience to realise their career goals.

We do this by providing a bespoke, tailor-made program based on your needs and wants. No two people are the same and neither is our program. We will learn what you want, what skills you have and what assistance you need to achieve your goals. We then work with you to make all this happen.

At Connex Life, we also provide mentoring once you’ve achieved your work and/or education goal, for as long as you require. It’s all about sustainability and once you’ve partnered with us, you have joined our extended family and we will continue to support you.

We’re all about quality care
& offering personalised services

Our approach is strength-based and person-centred. We work on empowering School leavers to have ownership over their progress and outcomes. Our highly experienced coaches support each participant and are focused on aiding every School leaver to reach their full potential. Connex Life coaches provide that vital support needed, enabling participants to successfully achieve and maintain employment.

How do we achieve this?
How do we differ from other NDIS providers?

Here’s a recent 3-day SLES service/program we organised with some of our SLES trainees:

  • Day 1 involved some in-class learning to help set the scene & get the participants pumped. From learning job search skills (even those already in the work force could benefit from a refresher) and life skills. To expand: how to manage your money, how to dress for an job interview, how to iron your clothes, to name a few.

  • Day 2 shifted from the classroom to learning on-the-job, with work experience organised for our SLES trainees. Some of our SLES trainees have had work experience over many industries from Real Estate, Warehousing, Retail and working in a Gym, to Hospitality, such as working in a busy café. Here they learn real skills on what is required to earn that job, as well as the social skills to work with customers and colleagues.

The day allowed for the ability to experience socialising and interacting with new people in a work environment, furthering our aim of strengthening their confidence and learning more about careers in general.

  • The final day took a different route, with the group experiencing a fun, social outing fused with learning. The group enjoyed a touch of fishing, over to a bit of action on the bowling alley, balanced with a visit to the museum and a spot of lunch. Day 3 did, of course, include some learning and training. Overall, this day is all about having fun together with learning thrown into the mix.

The day encouraged the group to travel plan and tested their teamwork, communication & organisational skills. Through the SLES service at Connex Life, we ensure you gain real-world experience, and develop the skills and confidence to secure your preferred career path.

By experiencing and learning about different environments, together with travel planning, our trainees are prepared and able to apply for jobs outside their local areas. By being familiar with locations outside their local area, it allows for the SLES trainee to have greater opportunities & potentially land that dream job.
